The University Academic Staff Union has called of the lecturers strike after signing a Collective Bargaining Agreement with the inter-public universities councils and consultative forum.
The CBA will cover 2013-2017 and is deemed effective from 1st July 2013 to 30th June 2017 and the staff will therefore benefit from arrears accrued during the period.
Lecturers are expected to resume work Tuesday and students have also been asked to report back to their respective universities.
According to the agreement academic staff will get a 17.5% basic salary increment as well as 3.9% increase in house allowance with a total of 10 billion shillings set aside for the same.
The union and the council have signed a return to work formula where all universities have undertaken not to victimize academic staff and union officials who took part in the industrial action.
They have also urged the salaries and remuneration commission to stop its ongoing job evaluation exercise in public universities to amble more consultations on the same.
