The late immediate former Nyeri governor Nderitu Gachagu will be laid to rest on Monday at his Hiriga home in Mathira West.
The body of the late governor was received at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi early Thursday morning by family members, county leaders, governors and friends.
The body was accompanied by three members of the Council of Governors and family members.
Speaking at Lee Funeral Home, a brother to the late governor, Rigathi Gachagua commended the national government, Council of Governors and Kenyans in general for helping the family during the difficult moment.
On their part Nyeri new governor ambassador Samuel Wamathai and Senator Mutahi Kagwe commended the Council of Governors for supporting Gachagua’s family since he passed away.
Gachagua, 64, died last week after a long battle with pancreatic cancer.
