The following vacant position exists under Human Resource Department.

RE: HR/01/01/2017: ASSISTANT HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGER – SS BE 2 (1 POSITION)

The Role:
Reporting to the Human Resource Manager, the main role of the Assistant Human Resource Manager is to assist in directing and managing the HR functions and operations which includes HR policy formulation, workforce planning, employee recruitment and resourcing, welfare & industrial relations, performance management, training and development, organizational change/design and HR initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
• Assist in working closely with departments, increasingly in an advisory role, while supporting line managers to understand and implement HR policies and procedures
• Assist in monitoring, reviewing, updating and implementing the Corporation’s approved organizational structure and establishment
• Assist in designing, implementing and managing HR department strategic objectives, work plans, projects and initiatives
• Assist in the formulation and implementation of HR policies, regulations and procedure documents
• Assist in administering and monitoring the HRMIS & payroll software as well as maintenance of employee’s database and records
• Assist in handling industrial relations matters and any other HR related litigations on behalf of the Corporation
• Preparing and updating staff job descriptions and specifications from time to time
• Managing staff performance management processes
• Coordinating and participating in the collective bargaining agreement negotiations with the recognized trade union representatives
• Preparation of annual departmental reports and budgets.

Minimum Requirements:

Educational Qualifications and Professional Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management or any other Social Sciences from a recognized institution
• Post Graduate Diploma or Higher National Diploma in Human Resource Management
• Master’s Degree in Human Resource Management or MBA will be an added advantage.
• Seven (7) years working experience in the HR practice, five (5) of which must be at managerial / supervisory level
• Must be a registered member of the Institute of Human Resource Management – Kenya
• Full membership category with Institute of Human Resource Management – Kenya will be an added advantage
• Good knowledge of HRMIS & Payroll Software
• Strong understanding of the Kenya Labour Laws.

Skills and Competencies
• Proven skills in handling Human Resource functions involving a large workforce
• Have demonstrated a high standard of professional competence, integrity and administrative ability required for direction and coordination of planning, development and maintenance of     Human Resource functions
• Demonstrated ability to effectively evaluate HR practices / procedures and make positive recommendations in line with the best practices
• Demonstrated ability to creatively and successfully execute HR strategies and objectives towards the achievement of the Corporation’s overall objectives
• Result driven and dynamic person
• Good leadership, communication and interpersonal skills
