Uhuru’s tour to Western Kenya postponed

President Uhuru Kenyatta’s visit to Western Kenya has been postponed.
A statement sent to newsrooms by Statehouse Spokesperson Manoah Esipisu says being the last week provided by the IEBC for political parties to submit their nominations list, the President wants nominees to focus on this important democratic process.
The statement further says the head of state is keen to ensure that all processes are fulfilled as required by guidelines provided for by the necessary institutions mandated to ensure credible nominations process.
The statement says dates for the tours will be communicated at a later date.
The president was this week scheduled to tour Trans Nzoia, Bungoma, Busia and Kakamega counties in Western Kenya where he was expected to launch and inspect several projects initiated by the national government in the region.
On Monday, President Uhuru Kenyatta’s planned visit to Tharaka Nithi and Meru Counties was cancelled due to unavoidable circumstances.
Last week, the President and his deputy were in the larger Gusii region where they commissioned several projects and addressed rallies urging the locals to re-elect them on August 8th.
