Fourteen judo players have been selected and are expected to report to camp next week to prepare for the Africa judo championships to be held in Madagascar next month.
The 14 players were selected during the trials held today in Nairobi.
The team, 7 ladies and 7 men, will be hoping to top the continent at the African championships after finishing top at the senior Eastern Africa judo tournament held last month in Zanzibar.
The bar was set high by the Kenyan juniors and kadets who finished second at the Africa junior and kadets event held in Burundi in October last year.
The judo team has been using the two legged league to sharpen their skills ahead of the continental event which has attracted teams from all the Africa countries.
The Kenya Judo Association is also targeting the best representation by the judo team at the coming Olympic Games to be held in Tokyo, Japan in 2020.
Over 100 players took part in today’s event.
