The Non-governmental Organization (NGOs) Council of Kenya has called on the local leadership in parts of Baringo, Elgeyo Marakwet, Pokot and Laikipia counties to cooperate with the security personnel to restore peace in the region.
While welcoming the move by president Uhuru Kenyatta to deploy KDF to the region, the NGO council chairperson Steven Cheboi urged the political leader not to politicize the security operation but to instead ensure they work closely with security until normalcy is restored in the region ahead of August 2017 Elections.
Speaking to KBC, Cheboi further called on stakeholders to work together to ensure peace prevails in the Country.
President Kenyatta sent the military to the five counties following persistent attacks on locals by armed raiders.
During his State of the Nation address last Wednesday, the President pointed a finger at politicians for instigating the raids.
