The electoral body IEBC has single-sourced an integrated election management system with only five months remaining to the August poll.
The commission Chairperson Wafula Chebukati says they have single sourced the system from Safran Identity and Security Firm which is the same company that supplied the commission with the Biometric Voter Registration Kits during the contested 2013 polls.
The system will integrate the existing biometric voter registration, the biometric voter identification and electronic results transmission.
The electoral body says Safran identity and security firm will deliver the technology within the statutory timelines.
This is the same company that supplied IEBC with BVR kits in 2013, majority which turned out to be faulty.
But IEBC chair Wafula Chebukati says the firm was best suited to provide the system for the next three years.
According to the Chebukati the firm has undertaken to deliver the technology within the statutory timelines.
At the same time, the commission in conjunction with the Education ministry maintained that politicians with questionable academic qualifications will not be cleared to vie in the August polls .
IEBC together with the education ministry says they will soon set up a team comprising the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, examination bodies and institutions of higher learning to verify the authenticity of the academic papers of all politicians.
Education Cabinet Secretary is however warning politicians against politicizing the verification exercise.
Several politicians have faced fierce court battles in defend of their academic papers.
Among them are Mombasa governor Hassan Joho, Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko, Kabate legislator Ferdinand Waititu, Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi and former Starehe MP Margaret Wanjiru.
