There are over 15,000 uncollected title deeds lying at the Kilifi county lands offices due to failure by their owners to pay for them.
Kilifi County Commissioner (CC), Joseph Keter told the national government service delivery coordination committee meeting at the county hall on Wednesday that the titles, some registered before independence are to be collected within a period of three months.
Keter said the Ministry of Lands is to engage the National Land Commission to ensure that titles issued before 2013 complies with the constitution.
He told deputy county commissioners to acquaint themselves with the Land Laws Amendment Act 2016 and the community Land Act 2016 as they dealt with the uncollected cases of land titles.
Keter told the Deputy County Commissioners to also nominate members who will appoint Land Control Boards (LCB) to include sub county administrators, representative from the National Land Commission, women, youth, elders and persons with special needs.
He pledged to obtain the exact number of titles issued before 2013 and prevail on the government for a waiver so that the owners can collect them.
