Abraham Kiptum wins Lagos City Marathon

Kenya’s Abraham Kiptum won the Lagos City Marathon title for the second time in a row after leading his compatriots to a clean sweep of podium positions.
The championship was in its second edition and was held Saturday in Nigeria.
Kiptum who completed the 42 km event in a time of 2 hours, 15 minutes and 20 seconds was followed by Ronny Kipkoech in a time of 2 hours 15 minutes and 25 while Kiroi Kiprotich clocked 2 hours 15 minutes and 28 to finished third.
Kenyan runners also dominated the women’s race with Rodah Tanui emerging victorious after clocking 2 hours 37 minutes and 50 seconds.
Fridah Lodepa and Alice Tambilili, also from Kenya, finished second and third respectively.
Winners of the marathon went home with 5 million Kenyan shillings each.
A total of 55,000 local and foreign runners and 30 Wheelchair athletes participated the race.
