EACC arrests three immigration officers over graft

Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission EACC detectives have arrested three immigration officials including a senior officer at the Kenya-Tanzania Namanga border post for engaging in graft.
According to EACC Lower Eastern head Susan Kanyeki the trio were operating a private bureau that ran parallel services to the state department.
A night raid at the Kenya-Tanzania Namanga Immigration office following complaints from members of the public resulted in the arrest of unscrupulous officials.
Among those apprehended is the head of immigration at the border post Joseph Mwikia whom the EACC Lower Eastern head Susan Kanyeki accused of overstating an illegal private bureau.
And as the trio await their day in court, a similar scene unfolded in the Nyamira County Government offices.
Here a different contingent of EACC detectives ransacked the offices before whisking off computers and files believed to contain vital information from the Public Service Board as well as the County department of Gender and Sports.
The search triggered by voices of discontent from wananchi after the department of sports allegedly irregularly hired 56 officers.
