Kisumu to host Lake Basin Expo and Investment Summit

Kisumu is set to host the Lake Basin Expo and Investment Summit expected to boost both intra trade among the 12 counties in the region as well as trade with other regions.
The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry projects that the Summit will help to generate much needed interest in the region.
Counties are set to become the focal points for investment opportunities.
Riding on this, the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Vision 2030 Secretariat, Kenya Investment Authority and respective County Governments have organized an investment summit aimed at re-igniting the economic potential of the lake basin region.
The forum mainly targets seeks to together small and medium enterprises from twelve counties to explore tapping diversified investment opportunities comprising among others agribusiness, tourism, construction, ICT, manufacturing, mining and fishing.
The Aremant Group has ploughed in some 200 million shillings seed money that is expected to be turned into a revolving fund for use to generate opportunities for young people graduating from institutions of higher learning, who are expected to venture into entrepreneurship.
Among the 2,000 expected at the expo are Chinese delegates and exhibitors to showcase on how to maintain productivity in the event of a drought or a dry spell.
Investors from the US, Europe, South Africa, India, Turkey and Australia are among those expected at the expo.
