Three people were killed and six others injured Friday in a suspected bandit attack in Duse area of Isiolo County.

Close to 30 armed attackers, suspected to be from neighbouring Garissa County, reportedly attacked the area earlier Friday, shooting dead a woman, according to Isiolo Police Commander, Charles Ontita.

Kenya police reservists who have been camping in the area engaged the attackers, killing two of them.

Two women, a child and three Kenya police reservists were injured in the firefight.

A contingent of GSU officers have been deployed to the area to help pursue the attackers.

The incident comes after the death of a 70-year-old man on Thursday at Taiboto, 15 kilometres from Garba Tulla town in a suspected revenge attack.

So far, 10 people have been killed and 13 others injured in retaliatory attacks between the Borana and Somali communities in Isiolo and Garissa counties in less than two months.

Meanwhile, security is tight along the Marigat-Chemolingot Road in Baringo County as locals prepare to bury two politicians who were shot dead three weeks ago in Marigat town.

The remains of Loyamorok Ward MCA, Frederick Kibet Cheretei and those of Tiaty Parliamentary aspirant Simon Kitambaa Pepee will be laid to rest Friday afternoon.

The two politicians, were shot dead in cold blood three weeks ago at a local bar in Marigat town.

Already two suspects from Tiaty, have been arrested and arraigned in court in connection with the killings of the two politicians.

Baringo County has in the last few weeks witnessed a rise in insecurity resulting to an intensive operation to flush out suspected bandits who had taken over the region.
