Presidents Uhuru and Trump discuss bilateral ties

US President Donald Trump spoke on telephone with President Uhuru Kenyatta where he reaffirmed the strong bilateral relationship between the two nations.

The two leaders who spoke Tuesday evening discussed ways to boost bilateral trade and investment in Kenya and the broader East Africa region.

According to a read out of the call released by the White House, the two leaders discussed their economic partnership and mutual dedication to overcoming terrorism and other regional security challenges through close cooperation.

“President Donald J. Trump spoke today with President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya to reaffirm the strong bilateral relationship between our two countries” said the read out call.

President Trump expressed appreciation for Kenya’s significant contributions to the African Union Mission in Somalia and recognized Kenyan troops’ sacrifices in the fight against al-Shabaab.
