Maasai Mara University has been closed indefinitely after students went on the rampage over an alleged attack on a student by a resident in the area.

The rioting students blocked the Narok-Bomet highway before being dispersed by anti-riot police.

Narok AP Commander Lawrence Owino said 40 students have been arrested and investigations into the incident have been launched.

It is alleged that a Student from the University had been attacked on Thursday night after he was allegedly found having an affair with the wife of a Boda boda operator in the area.

The students then took their anger to the motorists blocking the Narok-Bomet road for close to an hour before police swung into action to return normalcy.

And after it was all said and done, 40 students were taken behind bars.

The rampage not only saw the Maasai Mara University close indefinitely, but also left behind a trail of destruction.

Narok AP Commander Lawrence Owino said investigations into the incident were ongoing;
