President Kenyatta to tour Central Kenya

President Uhuru Kenyatta will this week visit Central Kenya region where he is expected to commission, launch and inspect development projects.

The President’s trip starts tomorrow (Monday) and Tuesday where he he scheduled to meet residents to discuss service delivery and other development issues.

The President will visit the counties of Nyeri, Laikipia, Kirinyaga and Murang’a over a whirlwind 48-hour period ending on Tuesday afternoon.

According a dispatch from State House, The President will focus on key infrastructure projects like roads, as well as the success of his healthcare plan by commissioning specialised medical equipment at several hospitals in the area.

“These hospitals will provide theatre, renal, imaging, radiology and other diagnostic services” said Spokeman Manoah Esipisu.

He said the Head of State will speak to leaders as well as other citizens in the areas.

On Monday, the President will  launch the Naromoru–Nairutia–Ngobit Road – road link that will reduce kilometres of travel by 60km from Narumoru to Kiganjo.

Thereafter he will open the Mukurweini–Othaya Water Sewerage Plant in Mukurweini Constituency that will serve a total of 200,000 people in both Mukurweini and Othaya constituencies.

He will wrap up the day by visiting Nanyuki Level 5 Hospital where he will commission the completed installation of equipment under the Managed Equipment Services (MES) which is already providing theatre and radiology services.

On Tuesday, he will visit Kerugoya Hospital, inspect the ongoing construction of the 29 km Kutus–Kianyaga–Kimuthugu–Kithure–Kibugi Road. Other projects include:

  • Commission the Kangema–Gacharage C70 Road
  • Visit Murang’a Level 5 Hospital
  • Launch Murang’a–Mukuyu–Gwathamaki Road in Murang’a County.

The President will also highlight tremendous progress made in ensuring access to electricity in the counties he is visiting.
